socked feet
If you break it, you buy it
he is sharp-edged glass slashing kind fingers
he teeters on the edge
of Something
then cuts the palms of would-be saviors
he is brittle-hearted
pats on the back split him down the middle
shoves make sounds like wind chimes
he is china on a faraway shelf
he is deceptively delicate
we tiptoe around him
in socked feet
he will break
his bare feet will bleed
when his world drifts back together
he will notice pieces of himself
scattered on the floor
