Your Decision
Drinking and driving, we all know it’s bad.
We knew you’d be hurt by the decision that you had.
You made a choice, though, one we can’t explain.
And now our lives will never be the same.
From day one, we tried to teach you never to do it,
But I guess you just went on and said, “Screw it.”
We hear instances like this happen every single day
and all we want to do is scream “No freaking way.”
We wish you would have thought before you started your car.
All that’s left now is an unforgettable scar.
Your mother is grieving, shattered with pain.
A piece of her is becoming truly insane.
Your father is broken and begins to think
Perhaps it’ll be easier to just have one more drink.
As he reaches for that beer, though, he is reminded of you
and the decision you made, which you hadn’t thought through.
Your sister is “okay,” she is living in a lie
because really, she wishes it were her that would die.
Drinking and driving, we all know it’s bad.
We are all forever hurt by the decision that you had.
