Favorite Quote:
If people were rain, I was a drizzle and she was a hurricane.

I’ve heard of it in movies

In stories grand and old

But I never listened

Or felt the ichor in my veins sing

In the way poets before me described

But now I think I know

I know what it is to love

And to lose

You were my greatest love

Possibly my only one

But it didn’t matter

When I left you standing in the rain

The only difference between the weather

And your tears

Was the taste of salt and regret

With missed opportunities

Streaking down your cheeks

But I knew then

That some part of me was missing

That something was gone

And could never return

I thought it was the loss of my best friend

But now I realize it was something more

I lost half of my soul

And I didn’t even realize

It was torn in two

Until I left

You live your whole life thinking

You are complete

What happens when you realize

You never were

Until it’s too late

But you know me

You know I have never known a home

I have never known the simplicity

Of being at complete peace

In one place

When I met you

That changed

And over time

I realized I had built a nest

Between your arms

And beneath your ribcage

You knew me

But you did not know

How scared I was

To lose this all

To lose you

So I didn’t say anything

I walked away from you

While every piece of stardust

And divinity within me

Told me to turn back and lose myself

In the oceans of your eyes

And everyday the ache in my breast

Grows stronger

I fear it may kill me

But I do not fear death

I only fear dying

Without seeing you

One last time

But the stars have a way

Of finding each other in darkness

And due to being made

From the same supernova

We have found each other again

And now I know

Exactly what the poets wrote about

When they spoke of being found

And returning home

For my sanctuary is not a loving place

But your loving embrace

I felt our souls collide

As our tears melded

Two nebulae colliding

In the form of flesh

You live your whole life thinking

You are complete

What happens when you realize

You never were

I breathe you in

Hoping this exchange

Can calm the solar flares

In my veins

As the old gods even look upon us

And think

We will withstand time

And when I see you

I see your soul laid out

Spanning the cosmos and even further

I know you see a galaxy

In my mortal shape

And that is okay

We found each other

Because stars find each other in darkness

Even if they lay scattered

In the veins

Of two broken people

Like us

The author's comments:

I left my best friend standing in the rain, tears streamming down our faces for the first time since we had met. That feeling is something I never want to experience again, but I know the rush of being in their arms after months is the only comparable thing to heaven.
