Away With The Night
Lost in the wood
hidden by all
a shadow struggles to survive through it all,
The sheets of rain
drowning darkness
icy wind
shrieking trees,
reflect it’s pain.
Outside of the wood where a figure lies
food is presented by its side,
a refusal, a scream
the fear is extreme,
The shadow it keeps
masked beneath
begins crumbling to the ground.
Back into the wood a fire is alight,
each bite brings it to flame
the shadow takes flight,
smoke dense and black fills the lungs with a sting
black tears cloud its sight,
as pieces of ash drift away with the night.
Woods scared from flame
still hidden from sight
will soon be away with the night.
