Favorite Quote:
"Irony [is] the song of a prisoner who's come to love his cage" - David Foster Wallace

Collateral hand

Bagua movements

Reach into rebounding dust and capture the sun

Jump in earth-collapsing uproar

Find feet that might move up walls

And lights weaving through slits of mud

Clouds that fall into backyards and wriggle into teapots

And mirrors that show us what we are not

The author's comments:

Bagua is a martial art that is uniquely defensive and evasive in style. With patience and precision, its practitioners take advantage of their opponent's openings after frustrating and tiring them.

This poem came out of my personal frustration with my application of bagua principles to certain areas of life where avoiding confrontation and "being patient" is more harmful than helpful.
