In the fiery darkness of lost long lover’s eyes

In the fleeting silence, the desperate chase for your next high

We hold onto our broken pieces of lore

Of shattered teacups, scattered like raindrops along the floor

Of the softest touch, bought and not earned

Of the external things for which we yearn

Only in the stillness that is forced upon our mind

This ever-invading reticence that invades at any time

Is this mirror driven in front of our eyes

That does not allow us to hide from the verity with these lies

It makes us remember, the truth behind these things

It makes us remember that objects can not erase the desolation that we bring

We are a lost generation they say

What they cannot see, is we’re all lost in a way

We are a wretched race, and we always have been

Nothing has changed, we’re just more comfortable with our sin

We’ve always been confused

We’ve always valued that which is truly less

We’ve always pursued ‘better’ however this better is not best

We’ve always feared that which we do not understand

We’ve always pushed down those who struggle to stand

We are a sad society

We are a broken type of insanity

Those who are powerful are weak in their mind

And those who are frail are the only ones who are not blind

We have looked in our mirror

We have seen what you refuse to believe

We have not given up, we just desperately hope for you to, to see

This will happen again and again

We will spiral, we will stabilize, however we will never win

There are no winners when your road is paved with blood

There will never be winners until we re-define what we call love

Those who push others down

Are those who have not looked within and found

Those who break another’s mind

Are those who were never taught what it means to be kind

It is a vicious cycle when you do not see

That every single one of us is damaged, you, him, them, and me

The world will keep spinning, and everyone will go on to keep on never winning

A river is not diverted when a single pebble is thrown

It needs an incredible mass, with a strength we have never known

If we truly want a future that is no longer our past

We need to re-learn what it means to live our life to the best

A life of contentment is always fine

A random act of kindness can sometimes suffice to calm our minds

However, this world does not need more small acts

This world does not need perfect people

This world needs the hungry, and the poor

This world needs the angry and the sore

This world needs the defective

This world needs the ones with the cracks

For whoever succeeded in bonding two perfect pieces of clay?

The strongest bonds are the ones that are broken.

And oh how lucky for us

For we are all broken

We are all damaged

We may not be able to see

But every single one of us has our cracks, you, them, her, and me

We are all different

But different is not less

The only way we will ever find a peace to the silence that invades our minds

The only way that we will ever find what it means to truly be kind

The only way that we will ever WIN

Is when we redefine what we think is best

Different is good, different is not less

The difference in you, and the difference in me

Should not be feared, it should be allowed to be free

We are a broken world

We are a damaged people

But this will not always be so bad

All you have to do is listen

Listen to the silence

For it is more than it seems

And never say, them. Never say me. We are a we

And we believe in a world that can be more than just in our dreams
