I find myself waking

Speaking your name

I find myself reaching for you

In vain desperation

At the witching hour

Encountering only shadows that dissolve at my fingertips

When I am shaken from a nightmare

That I can’t quite remember

Leaving me with unnamed fear

And I crave your moonbeam smile

And stardust touch

When did I become so dependent on you?

It’s as if you pull the tides

My sandcastle depends on the temperment

Of your gravity

With an ocean at your fingertips

I beg you be cautious

As you may underestimate the power

Of your own current

An entire civilization built around you

Fearing the wrath of an omniscient god

But praising them for their mercy

You could

But you don’t

end it all in the blink of an eye

Send everything I hold dear to a watery grave

I’ll sing your praises every day

Make sacrifices to appease you

You

A vengeful

Unpredictable god

I constructed in the image

of my own self doubt

A reflection of my fears that wears your face

As one of its many masks

Because you are pure

You are the sun

That shines above

And makes the flowers bloom

The moon that reflects the warmth

of the brightest days

The stars that sparkle above

Wiser than all great minds

And here

Everything I have

Everything I am

Hanging in your gravity
