Her and I

It’s easier
referring to myself
as she, her, “the little girl”.
Easier
than saying I,
then I’m the one who’s feeling-
I’m the one who’s hurting-
I’m the one who’s breaking when
I’d rather not.
I’d rather not deal with it
I’d rather she did
As if somehow projecting all of my pain onto this “other girl”
- me
will calm the water
prevent it from boiling over the top again.
I delude myself
thinking that this girl I’ve created is somehow strong enough to handle what her own creator
can’t
She’s not strong, because she’s me
and this feeling?
It never goes away
