Why can’t everything be fair?

The board games we play with our siblings.

The food we split in “half.”

The arguments that only one person can win.

Why?

Why can’t everything be fair?

Why do bad things happen to good people?

Sickness and war.

Hunger and homelessness.

Problems, they overflow.

They spill out of our hands and out of the world’s hands.

Why?

Why can’t everything be fair?

Why can’t we fix everything and why do we have to share?

So many questions.

To few answers.

Why?

Why can’t everything be fair?

Black and white.

Rich and poor.

Ugly and pretty.

Those stereotypes,

They just aren’t civil and they sure aren’t right.

Why?

Why can’t everything be fair?

Sometimes that feeling, of helplessness gets wretched into our gut.

That feeling of equal rights gets taken out of sight,

And life just doesn’t feel equal.

Cause it isn’t.
