Security Blanket
She comes home and the house settles.
The lavender lull of her embrace is healing enough for both of us.
For the moment we forget the red ache in our flesh.
Steam rising from two mugs of tea on the table,
Loosely held by hands wrapped in sweater sleeves.
Tired eyes roam across the hardwood floor.
Support is a thing felt, not spoken, but
Always there, here in the love-worn sheets,
Here in the soft pink hum of two beings,
Growing, mending, surviving as one.
