Bruised Lovers
We leave bruises in the shape of hearts and dare to call it love.
Casting different roles for the most desirable traits of ourselves as if it were a curtain call,
The audacity.
To call one another,
Whispering how our hearts bleed the same.
Not all hearts bleed red however.
I damn you,
For breaking ties that held no signficance to you
But meant the world to me.
Burning the bridges that tied you down in stormy weather.
Being in love is supposed to be something that is cherished with all of your being,
It is not somewhere you can come and go as you please.
Haunting this abandoned house as if you were a ghost seeking closure,
You ended us.
I can no longer hear the name you bear because my mind always slips back to the liklihoods of your toxic love.
I banish you from haunting the edges of my mind,
For I have met the monsters that live there and you will do nothing but corrupt them.
The cruel names you spewed from your mouth ressembled so much of wolves in the night.
I cannot,
I cannot.
Let me go!
Give me the freedom of my own free mind and not the one you have tainted.
No amount of time or the intensity of white knuckles and nails digging into my own skin
can get that memory far enough away from me.
Put your name out of my head and out of this time,
For I loved you but you knew better.
