Seated yet staring, gazing with a glazed eye
folded, looking inside
drinking in the light as it intermittently goes by
and for some reason it streams in as softness
shattering in slanted, revealing its loftiness
Behind your eyelids it flashes and flows
you can feel it
that emotion, you wonder if someone else knows
that you need it
Squeeze them shut more tightly
maybe if you see it hard enough
they’ll come back to you, rightly
in their place
before there was just empty space
Suddenly you’re back and look down
at your hands
pushing into themselves
grasping at nothing that still stands
