Broken Promises
May 13, 2015
You said you'd never leave me,
But I guess you lied,
For my heart is broken,
And yet you wonder why?
You said you wouldn't hurt me,
But I guess it was a joke,
I'd be so much happier,
If I knew how to cope.
You said, "Bandage it with tape",
But I guess it doesn't work,
For it fell back apart,
And scattered in the dirt.
You said I needed help,
But I don't understand,
For you up and left,
Before telling me why you lied, again.
You said I need a therapist,
But I don't know why,
For I'm still sane,
Darling I'm perfectly fine.
You got me into this mess,
But now you couldn't care less,
Did you really love me?
Or was I just another broken promise?

The difference between promises and memories is that we break promises, and memories break us. I went through a major heart break when I wrote this. I hope some of you can relate.
