Unwanted: Dead or Alive

I could learn to drown, then learn to survive,
Then I’d be unwanted; dead or alive.
The oceans waves could take me under
Do I fight or do I surrender?
Would you care, would you even know?
If I just left, if I just let go;
I’ll crash to shore with the ever-changing tide,
With a feeling of peace as I take the ride.
No fearing my safety; I’ll be just grand,
I’ll wash up on the shore of a better land.
And when those who follow will bring their light,
We’ll be remembered as those who won our fight.
