What doesn't kill you simply makes you stranger.

The gatekeepers to my eyes would not let droplets fall
As I watched my love curl into a ball.
Crumbling away with cries so silent,
I was letting down a boy so reliant.

His sadness washes over me, branding my skin.
To help him recover, where would I begin?
The broken and the beautiful; the fallen and the stars.
There is no mistaking a love that was ours.

What broke him was the sorrow, pain and regret;
The replaying moments he could not forget.
The cage he lived in; the facing of fears.
He bottled his emotions from all the years.

I was weak too; unable to be strong,
I thought it was okay. I guess I was wrong.
A boy so fragile, a mind so tender,
A pain I never want him to remember.
