Favorite Quote:
You're spending your wrath uselessly

It was dark, but not night,
When the killers moved in.
Smiles sinuous with hate,
Blood disembogued sin.

The children all quailed,
They wailed and they wept.
From innocent and puerile,
All reverie was swept.

Existences extinguished,
Now candles without flame.

Ardor replaced with silence,
So what is to blame?

On that cold autumn day,
That was dark, but not night,
A child beheld in trepidation,
That deplorable sight.

For over her brethren,
Her family and friend,
An augury hung above,
An omen for the end.

For this marked the coming,
The quickly fleeting breath,
This marked the coming,
Of a stranger called Death.

The dawn of the day,
Brought a cold empty bed,
Upon blanket and pillow,
Lied no body nor head.

Young observer of horror,
Soon fell to slumber,
The last living light,
Was soon to go under.

The small dreaming child,
Jarred from her sleep,
Snatched from her haven,
Not a dream to keep.

Brought into nightmare,
Flung down the cold stair,
Left alone in the dark,
With no one to care.

Chained to the shadows,
Fears suppressed thought,
Self-whispered sweet nothings,
Were all her ears got.

For this marked the arrival,
The desperate pleading breath,
This marked the arrival,
Of a stranger called Death.

Clinging to the edge,
Buried beneath despair’s shroud,
Tears escaped her eyes,
Like rain pours from cloud.

Curved to the moon,
Lay silver without shine,
She sees it as poison,
To him it is wine.

Delicate veins cave,
White skin stained red,
The blade slashed and stole,
Cared not as she bled.

Her strength begins to ebb,
Her dreams begin slipping,
Her mind begins to cloud,
Her blood begins dripping.

The stranger looms over,
Smirking for cries,
As she fights and she pleads,
He watches her die.

This marks the reign,
The last silent breath,
This marks the reign,
Of a stranger called Death.

Fallen to darkness,
Shadow overtakes dream,
Her light fades away,
With a last tortured scream...

It was bright, but not day,
When the girl gained back breath.
In a hospital, now safe,
From the stranger called Death.

The author's comments:
Sometimes feelings well up inside, feelings I can't quite explain. They scratch and claw inside my head, demanding to be heard. I spill them onto the blank computer screen to find peace and tranquility; to return to the placid silence of musing without demand. This poem was one that was demanding to be written. The meaning is something that I feel very strongly about, and I hope you can take the lesson buried within.
