Little Girl

More by this author
That young girl sitting over there you see,
Is way more grown up than she has to be
Her less than perfect skin
Is all broken, bruised and thin

Her cries never answered
Her cries never answered
Her long brown hair is knotty
Her clothes torn and over worn

She stays by her little sister’s side
When she was beat, when she cried
One day things went way too far
Leaving so much more than a bruise or scar

Her cries still aren’t answered
Her cries still aren’t answered
She prays to join her sister
She cannot bear the things done by the mean Mister

One day there was a knock at the door,
The little girl nearly hit the floor.
The kind woman knew it was too late to save the other,
But gladly gave the little girl a loving mother
Strange men came and took away the mean Mister
The one who cruelly killed her little sister

Her cries have been answered
Her cries have been answered
Help had come just a tad bit late
For her sweet little sister with the cruel cruel fate
The mean old Mister will never strike again,
For his life was ended, just after ten.

This is so sad, but really good.  Repeating the same line twice really helps to focus on what's happening to the girl.
