Death was last seen in the auction room, looking worried
for he knew his current victim left in a hurry
she ran and she hid from her buyer's stare
for she couldn't go now, it wasn't fair
she had a life and a family and a home to take care of
and she wanted a chance to fall in love
but Death wasn't patient, and Death wasn't kind
and she knew if she tried, she couldn't hide
for he played a dangerous game of hide-and-seek
and he was a cheater, yes, he liked to peek
but hope drove her forward, toward the fading light
and she promised not to go without a fight
so she struggled and screamed and thrashed her fists
but she knew in the end, Death got his wish.

I was given an exercise in which I was to take a line from a poem already written, and fit it into a poem of my own. I used said line as the beginning of my poem, and this was the end result.
