The Sea of Books

I live among a sea of books
Biting to their timeless hooks
Caught within a world of words
Yet I’m wishing mine were also heard
I live among the timeless tales
An observer as my life unveils
Caught between what’s real and not
Yet how I wish my life had plot
I live among a voice unheard
A philosophy many find absurd
But none of them are at all mature
Silence, though it isn’t right
Becomes the darkness that blocks my light
I live among a sea of books
Dodging judicious looks
Facing the world with unseeing eyes
And trying my best to ignore all the lies
I’m floating in a sinking boat
And throwing off hope to stay afloat
But this sea of books is now a mere lake
To the sea of sorrow that is left in its wake
And this sea of sorrow now drowns my head
In the colors of blacks, browns and reds
And as I sink I begin to think
About what life would be like
If my armor had no chink
And now I’m floating, safe and sound
Forever alone in the world around.
