"You love someone, you open yourself up to suffering, that's the sad truth. Maybe they'll break your heart, maybe you'll break their heart and never be able to look at yourself in the same way. Those are the risks. The thought of losing so much control over personal happiness is unbearable. That's the burden. Like wings, they have weight, we feel that weight on our backs, but they are a burden that lifts us. Burdens which allow us to fly..."

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Flowers are sweet
And so are you

The grass is green,
The sky is aquamarine
The snow is pristine
And you’re never mean

While dolphins are gray
And fish are rainbow
You are beautiful
You’re smile makes me explode

The music you make
Is always in style
‘Twill never be ancient
Unlike the Nile

All the cheerleaders
Have tons of school spirit
But no one compares to you
You exceed the limit

When I got lost
The world looked gloomy
But when you held me
The scene became heavenly

Even though on the news
All they talk about are the blues
Some try to solve it with booze
But you could solve them and snooze

When people need help
You are the first to jump
You make it so they get an A
And you don’t care about any speed bump

Unlike the regular teen
Your life’s not about your phone
Instead it is about family
Your true colors are shown

You never lie
And you never cheat
You are a role model
You’re truly elite

You’re a really good friend to anyone
You probably are the best
If someone was going through a hard time
You’d calm ‘em down; I am impressed

You really are bold
And always speak your mind
But even when you sound hurtful
You make it sound kind

While everyone surrounds you
Doing their drugs
You solve all their problems
By giving them hugs

On the floor
When you dance
Everyone stares
You put them in a trance

All the mistakes you make
They don’t bring you down
Instead you learn from them
And gain an upside-down frown :)

You don't drink
Have been sober forever
And when offered a shot
You always say, “Never!”

When someone looks at you
With disgust and hatred
You just smirk at them
Until it has ended

When your ex broke up with you
You weren’t consumed by tears
You were strong, you stood
And you faced your fears

You are a dare devil
You’re truly fearless
Always taking risks
But never too careless

You listen to your heart
Which most people don’t do
You follow it anywhere
Even if you get a tattoo

If you died young
You’d be missed
I’d never forget
the last time we kissed

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Most of the verse were inspired by songs I was listening to at the time

Sorry about those confusing parts.

So parts nearly rhymed, but didn't, but they sounded cool, so I kept them.

As for the hurtful, I was kinda going for what you said, but I didn't know how to phrase it.

Anyway, thanks for the support and feedback, Twinn and Tatiel ;D

Like Twinn said, this is so fun and happy! I love it. =) I like how you switch between rhyming patterns at random places.

One thing I would be careful of is making all the rhymes perfect. In one place, the rhyme was a little bit off (I think you rhymed rainbow with explode). Because everywhere else in the poem, the rhymes are perfect, that one spot really sticks out.

Also, in one spot, you say, "But even when you sound hurtful / You make it sound kind" That's kind of a contradition...and it is a little confusing. Maybe change it to something like, "But even when it should be hurtful / You make it sound kind" or something like that. =)

Other than that, I really enjoyed this! Hehe, a lot of the poetry on here is rather dark and depressing, my own stuff included XD This was a lovely break from that! =)

Thanks.

I just wrote what i thought. Flow just sort of happened, although I did make sure at least every other line rhymed

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure...We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God."

This flows for the most part, but in some places it is choppy. I liked the feel of it though, really fun and genuine, and relaxed. (:
