"when the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace"

Don't stop chasing.
Help me please.
You burn like a fire.
Please help me unfreeze.

Oh how I want
To feel the warmth on my skin.
Could this all be the price
For my one little sin?

Yes, a sin you see,
Or I see really.
I'm sure you think it's great
And for that I do take pity.

This thing that burns inside your soul
Until there's nothing left.
This thing that takes a mighty toll
And gives my brain a cleft.

This thing that blinds a hawk.
This thing that deafs the bat.
This thing that numbs my senses.
This thing that stuns the rat.

This thing betrays its brother.
This thing that's worse than greed.
This thing that cuts us like a knife.
This thing that makes us bleed.

It's a show we all see coming
And yet we do not run
Because we think it's beautiful
Until it's work is done.

Oh what were we thinking?
Oh what could we do?
If claims our thoughts inside our heads.
Oh the things it makes us rue.

Completely illogical.
Completely obscene.
We'll never understand it.
It will always be more keen.

If there were only a simple way
To keep this from my mind.
I could walk away from you
To thing much more kind.

"May you wake in torment"
Seems an alright phrase
To describe what you have put me through
In these past few days.

It must be evil then you see
To keep me here with you.
Nothing good could ever come
From its deadly calling coo.
