I Miss You, Daddy

Crying on the floor at night,
I feel it will not end.
Someone please end their fight,
I need our hearts to mend.

When he finally moved out,
Without so much as a letter,
I felt an intense amount of doubt
that things would soon be better.

My mother took it hard,
I know that she still cries.
It’s left her torn and scarred,
It’s sad how she still tries.

She won’t accept she’s alone,
Yet she’s torn and broken.
And although I have grown,
My mom’s still so heartbroken.

After all this time I think,
Is love really meant to last?
For all things can end in a blink,
Just look back at your past.

I wrote this for my english final last year, and it is about my parents' divorce. I hope it will help people to understand the pain divorce can inflict on the children, and people who have been through the same experience as me will appreciate my attempt at the experience put into words.
