I know we’ve never met
But I’d like to say thank you
For giving me, your daughter,
The chance to grow and bloom

I don’t think you know
But my life was greatly changed
It has been more much better
Because of the choices you made

You couldn’t predict the outcome
So you just trusted your heart
Now I have a wonderful family
And I know we’ll never part

Sometimes I still wonder
What my life would be like
If you hadn’t gone through with it,
If you had changed your mind

The gift that you have given me
Just keeps on giving
More than just the gift of life,
I have the gift of living

All I have to hope for
Is that we will meet someday
And I’ll have the chance to thank you
Before we go our separate ways

This poem is written from the point of view of an adopted child. I myself am not adopted but I have seen the adoption process and I know how difficult it is for everyone involved, but I've seen the happiness of a new family after adoption.
