Distant Love

September 30, 2010

As I lay in bed, i think about tomorrow./
Tomorrow will be the end of my sorrow./
I will finally see my true love again/
And I know he will take away all my pain.//
This is it! Today is the day he'll arrive!/
We will pick him up at the airport at five./
My mom and I were watching the news channel./
I read the words that were in the lower panel.//
"A plane crashed in our area," the words said./
"It left families unhappy, and tons... dead."/
Then I got nervous, thinking negatively./
"Impossible," I whispered. It couldn't be.//
"He's not on that plane," my mom reassured me./
She is right, I thought, with the slightest of glee./
Why am I so worried? I don't even know./
What was this feeling that continued to grow?//
We are driving to the airport to get him./
The weather outside is so rainy and grim./
But i didn't mind, for I would see my love./
My happiness is too hard to get rid of.//
I am not imagining the look on his face./
Just thinking of my love makes my heartbeat race./
We're finally at the airport, right on time./
We and wait and we wait as we stand in the line.//
My mom and I waited for him to arrive./
As something on the news was broadcasting "LIVE."/
As I watched the TV, I started to cry./
For then I had realized my true love had died.//
