Under the silky water,
Laid a mermaid, cute and witty,
She had no family, friends, or home,
So most strangers showed her pity.

No one realized how happy she was,
She wrote poems and stories full of life,
They kept her spirits up through thick and thin,
Made her happy during even the hardest strife.

The ocean makes a terribly scary place,
She made shelter with willing mermen,
If they showed her kindness and comfort,
She left them with a poem and a writing pen.

No one knew why she did this,
Giving random men her written art,
Secretly, for she would tell no one,
She just wanted to remain in someone’s heart.

She put all of her works in a trunk,
She did not write all of it just for pleasure,
Everything she knew were in those words,
They were her personal treasure.

I wrote this poem for an English project and I really enjoyed it. What this poem means to me is that no matter what hard thing you are going though, there will always be something that can make you happy. Find that thing and stick to it.
