The birth of a poem

Life itself
Parts of your life put together
To create one thing
A memory
That memory can be good or bad
Every memory no matter the shape or size––
Can be taken,
Broken apart,
And remade on a blank sheet of paper
Or even a mear document on an iPad
But every memory has a bigger story to it than it appears.
Every memory is just in your head until you pick up a pencil
And smear that memory onto paper.
And then that memory isn’t just up there floating around in your mind,
But it’s now written down, expressed on a document where you can share that memory.
You may use certain words, make it flow with rhythm, or even make it rhyme.
Now that these memories are jotted down on something.
With a little pizazz
That memory is now a poem
A poem will live on forever
A memory is just a vision that only the keeper can see
A poem allows the reader to traverse through that memory
While I’m sitting here writing this poem
You can imagine me sitting at my desk
Think about what a poem is
That is the beauty of a poem
Now that’s a poem
