The Cage

It holds me captive like a cage
With barriers unbreakable
Its insides fester with loathsome rage
Which sadly I cannot escape
I yearn for sun, I yearn for light
And yet I cannot escape the darkness of the night
I try to see a better day
But yet I cannot help but simply lay
The warm, wet tears have ceased to fall
The feelings once there have stopped in all
I deeply sigh and turn my cheek
And try to imagine the life which I seek
