The ink smears on the paper,
In a thick stroke that comes to a taper.
A list of names that could end it all,
Each one could bring about downfall.
The writing stands with an eerie beauty,
They still do not know of their fruitless duty.
To lead the endless sea of despair,
That flows into the dead man’s lair.
