They came in a cardboard box, brand new
The smell of the factory filled the air
“Look”, I tell my mom, “New expensive shoes”
I open the box, my eyes lit with astonishment

The price tag reads “$295.00”, an expensive pair

It’s as if the Jumpman smiled back at me

The Nike Swoosh glows in the spotlight
It’s as if the Jumpman smiled back at me
Nike/Jordan Collab doesn’t get any better

I chose the topic "New Expensive Shoes" for many reasons. First, I'm come from a family that doesn't have a lot of money. When I come to school, all I hear is kids talking about their new kicks, and what the total amount they payed for them. I think the title of my poem symbolizes things we can't take for granted, and we should grateful with the things we have. In the eyes of the bragging kids, I wrote this to get my message across. If this is you, if my peom describes you, know you are blessed, so be humble.
