Rainy Day

It draws the children out to play
like a magnet.
The rain taunts them
like no other.
The first step out is the best.
A wave of excitement
captures the heart.
The sight of their surroundings is blurred
by this downpour.
The smell of the wet concrete is all around.
The brave ones set umbrellas aside
letting the water fall across their faces,
as if the world were cleansing their souls.
Even now, as I am older, I find it hard
to ignore this storm
and give way to relentless falling of
water from the heavens.
It washes away every worry
And sends me into complete bliss.
