El Salvador 2011
What I remembered about that day
is the freshwater hitting my tanned skin
the current of the river pushing against me
sand flying everywhere as the boys play soccer
Walking back home just to go out and play again
Hearing the laughter of all the neighborhood kids
And the joy I felt at the end of the day
Nothing about the busy city life
Nothing about my family back home

This poem is a memory poem of the time I went to visit family at El Salvador. It's one of my happiest memories, when times were simpler and less dangerous over there.
