or a baby trying to carry a bottle that’s hefty. 

Now imagine writing a poem.
It’s a lot harder than all that.

Try flying
or not breathing and not dying.
Try eating just one potato chip
or convincing a pirate to give up his ship.

Now try writing a poem.
It’s a lot less possible than all that.

You might think that finding love takes time
or that making someone wait for dinosaurs to come back is a crime.

You might think that building the pyramids in Egypt took forever
or that you’ll never convince someone to count one thousand days, ever.

Now take the time to write a poem.
They’ll be happy to wait for all that.
