Casey, she is now gone
For what feels like so long
Her fur remains yellow, her eyes hazel brown
Eyes that never frown
Casey’s ears were pointed backward
Yet, a hint of floppyness remains manufactured
Casey’s eyes often gave a questioning look
Often reading people and other animals like a book
Her barks were low and deep
Attempting to seep
Into the sky
When ambulances pass by
She was already old when Brownie came
Whom Casey often got annoyed with; just the same
Brownie, running leaping; expressing his love for her
Casey often ignored him; that’s for sure
Yet, now, Casey’s gone; up in heaven
At the end of the year in which Brownie turned seven
