Pining for Glory
Old,
But once stolen from the pines
Now there is nothing but stumps left behind.
The potential for trees to be so tall,
Ruined.
Was once wood so useful
For a wall.
Cut to size,
A rectangular form,
To fit the slots
Just right.
The glorious wood
From the glorious pines
In now cracked and worn
Its sides being torn away by age and
Water stains.
And now retired
To sit in a classroom,
Where students pay it no mind,
For its glory, it pines
Again.
