fade to sleep

my head sinks deeply into my pillow/ i wait for exhaustion to take over my mind/ i turn over once, twice, three times/ the lights on my wall give me something to stare at mindlessly/ i pray for exhaustion to come/ things of the day keep spinning 'round and 'round and 'round in my mind/ the lights flicker and dance on the wall before my eyes/ the shades of blue and black change constantly from the television in the other room before complete darkness comes/ i turn my head a bit to check my clock/ 11:38 it reads/ it's been one hour and thirty-eight minutes of mindless watching of to colors on my wall/ i listen to my brothers television next door/ it must be another scary movie beecause i hear screaming/ the voices and screaming fade/ my eyelids slowly drift shut/ i'm losing consciousness/ i fade to sleep and dream happy dreams
