Stormy Days
The rain
Which gives life
And cleans
The ground
The thunder
Which reminds me
Of childhood and
Its uncertainties
The lightening
Which beings light
To a once shady place
And makes shapes
In the heavens
The clouds
Who are my
Protectors
My shade
And a pillow for
An angel
The Rain
Rain is water
Water gives life
ALL
Life
To every last creature
Rain
Kisses my skin
Bounces off my tongue
Tackles the ground with a
Clomp Clomp Clomp
Blurs my vision in the most exquisite of ways
Turns up the soil to leave everything
Smelling
Earthy
Rain
Takes over
ALL
My sense
The Thunder
BOOM
One Mississippi ….
Two Mississippi….
Three Mississippi….
A flicker of light!
Running inside
The storm is ONLY
three miles away!
How bizarre the
Sounds of thunder is
BOOM BOOM BOOM
Like a heart beat
That’s out of whack
Or maybe
The last thump
Of a persons heart
Who is
Walking into heaven
Or maybe
Hell
The thunder
Which struck fright
In my heart
Lead me to scamper
To the room next door
Where my mother
Being who she is
Would try to console me
With adorable little stories
“Do not be frightened”
She would say,
Half asleep
“It is only angels
Bowling”
DO NOT BE AFRAID?
But say one of the angels misses
The bowling ball tumbles
And tumbles
And falls to the ground
What if some poor follow
Unsuspecting as he is
Stand in the wrong spot
Imagine the headline
“DEATH BY BOWLING BALL
THAT FELL FROM HEAVEN”
The Lightening
Lightening
Hits the dark clouds
With a spark of light
Think a camera
Only
Quicker
And brighter
It creates unbelievable lines
That makes me believe
The clouds are alive
Blood pumping through
Those momentary
Veins
Lightening
Has a lot it’s done
And a lot to be recognized for
Zeus
The King of gods
Used lightening
To show
His authority
Ben Franklin
Used lightening
To give us
Electricity
God
Used it too
Destroy people
The Clouds
To explain my fondness
For glorious clouds
I must first
And foremost
Explain my utter disgust
For the sun
The sun is my rival
I take a step out side
It lets out a hardy laugh
“HA, foolish girl” he say
“White is you’re skin now
But red it soon will be”
“NO!” I screech
But he laughs again
And turns me ruby
He is wicked!
But now again
This most fantastic of things
Comes to my rescue
My knight in black armor
Who’s fluffy and full
Intelligent as well
Always knowing
When I need a day
Away from the sun
I laugh at then sun
“Come get me now!”
And the clouds laugh too
He leaves beaten
Swearing he will return
Clouds hold another purpose
Clouds allow angels
Yes angels
To visit there once loved ones
A mother lies calmly
And laughs at her boys
“Look how charming,
how they lay together
How I wish
They always got along so well!”
An elderly man
Smiles at his wife
She stands on the veranda
Annoyed that she can’t
Add to her already stunning garden
“Tomorrow my kitten, tomorrow”
He says.
Oh stormy days
How fabulous you are
Those of you who use them to stay inside
I find you humorous
Silly even
For some much is happening!
These days should be cherished
More then any sun-drenched day!
Awed at
For
The rain
Which gives life
And cleans
The ground
The thunder
Which reminds me
Of childhood and
Its uncertainties
The lightening
Which beings light
To a once shady place
And makes shapes
In the heavens
The clouds
Who are my
Protectors
My shade
And a pillow for
An angel
