Cool hands
Dark skies
Full moon
Closed eyes

Holding on
Letting go
Reaching far
Trusting slow

Soft promise
Loose ties
Locked lips
Lying eyes

The wind breathes in my whispered tune
I face the effervescent moon
Illuminate the dying night
With careless words and falling flight

I sank deep deeper
And locked the key
I threw it out
Goodbye you - me

My heart was big
It's bigger now
But it seems smaller
To the crowd

Chosen words with care, in my mouth they rust
Goodbye my friends, goodbye my trust
Goodbye sun and hello moon
My only friend

My tell tale tune

The author's comments:

I was inspired to write Tell-Tale Tune by the thought of the moon's personification. I've always found myself much more fascinated by the moon than the sun; for some reason, I see the moon as a sort of deeply trouble and lost character. To write this poem, I thought of a boy who would be the human version of the moon; someone who would embody the terrific but eerie power that the moon has over me.
