My Word

You might write me down as bitter,
Mean and quite unkind,
But I can let you know for sure,
You cannot read my mind.
I have to say what everyone's thinking
It doesn't need to be nice.
If you need to know, you'll know it,
If you need I'll tell you twice.
My word is simply honest,
None of it has to be fair.
Life isn't like that anyway,
You have to learn that somewhere...
If you don't want to listen,
It doesn't need to be heard,
Just best be sure that my honor
is as true to me as my word.
