an ode to crows.
chilly air reddens ear tips
decaying leaves fall from the sky
the sun is perpetually tucked in to rest
a caw breaks through crisp air
sends a tickle through my eardrums
i look up, see their dark wings
glistening yet matte, dark yet light
a coat of night, a mind of might
they’ve arrived, my friends have come
a comforting force seems to watch over
protecting me from cold winters and harsh summers
i’ve never met one, but i feel their presence
the guardians of autumn
sent by gaia herself
keeping us safe from what we can’t see
