A void, a space that cannot be filled,
A never ending vacuum of regret.
Secrets, forgotten, never spilled,
Plans that were never set.
A feeling of inescapability,
Of endings that can never change.
Of inevitable inefficacy,
Permanently estranged.
As feelings always ebb and flow,
The sorrow always fades.
But the pain will never truly go,
Like sunlight in the shade.
It filters through and casts its shadow,
Little changes here and there.
Catching yourself holding your head low,
Or running your fingers through your hair.
You’re never really the same again,
Or maybe you are, who really knows.
But the pain will return every now and then,
And pull you into the depths below.

I wrote this piece for my creative writing class, but as I wrote it I realized it is important to me and reflects my true feelings.
