IN MEMORY OF KANSAS CITY

You were big.
You were strong.
You were fearless.
You were our friend.

You were kind.
You were gentle.
You were patient.
You were our friend.

You carried flags.
You carried adults.
You carried children.
You were our friend.

You could do anything.
No matter what was asked.
You never refused.
You were our friend.

You taught us unconditional love.
You taught us to be gentle.
You taught us compassion.
You were our friend.

We will remember you always.
With your kind eyes & loving manner...
You were a gentle giant.
You were our friend.

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem about a year ago when one of my family's horses passed away. We have other horses, but Kansas City was special. He had a lot of love to give and was truly a gentle giant. His passing left a big hole in my heart because was my friend.
