Striving for greatness, but destined to fail
every time I reach for hope and love
I’m pushed back down by hate and despair
Why is it so hard just to feel accepted
Why can’t I just feel like you care
Is it my mind
Telling me lies
Saying you don’t care
My mind and heart are at war
Telling me different things
Who is right
Who is wrong
When black and white fade to gray
How can you tell
One day maybe the war will be over
and I will finally know the truth
