Car rides,
Shopping sprees.
Best friends;
My grandma and me.

All of our good memories
And a million laughs,
Will always remind me
Of the fun times we had.

A day alike the rest,
You were gone from our lives.
Placed in heaven
To sit by God's side.

I'm starting to rebuild
Piece by piece
No longer denying
This truth too hard to face.

When I think of you
I'll try not to cry.
For I know I have my very
Own angel up in the sky.

And even as I write this,
I'm holding your hand.
Forever beside me
My best friend will stand.

I wrote this poem shortly after my grandma's death this past august.
