It’s no enigma I’m fond of nightfall
It is most kind to my necessity
Providing me peace by the slumber of others
I thrive in the absence of sunlight

She wakes by the presence of brilliance
As the sun rises so does she
The horizon follows her where she goes
She’s too marvelous for my shadows

Sunrise and sunset we meet just before one passes
By brief encounters we exchange thoughts
Some intelligent others not
Nonetheless we leave with a piece of each other

I carry her with me like a necklace under my shirt
Too afraid to reveal her significance on me
Too prideful to admit to myself too
That I cherish her radiance in the absence of light
