Four Letters
Your thoughts are trapped within your tongue
 Narrow and sullen, tightly spun
 Ignored and swallowed, tucked away
 Rising to haunt you everyday

You turn your collar to the dark
Like silent reason, it seals your heart
Without the light to draw you near
There lies a song within a tear

Pulled all the flowers from the ground
Within your mind they’re tightly wound
Within the sliver of a dream
 There, lives your possibility

From this world, there’s so much you want
But you can’t keep up with what you’ve got
You set sail on the wave of doubt
But it’s your friend, your ticket out

So you feel no need to sacrifice
You take what’s given and take flight
But all your thoughts return to be
 Lost emptiness in harmony
