Where were you when I got attacked at gunpoint?
I was walking home from the park
around 7pm on a chilly
October night.
In my cozy leggings,
a black north face, and
A pair of pink flip-flops.
With one of my headphones in.
I was walking at a steady pace,
Enjoying the weather.
I usually liked chilly nights,
But not tonight.
I turned back to see
Two men walking behind me.
Slowly they sped up,
And next thing I know,
I stood there frozen, and I couldn't breathe
The gun was pointed straight to my head.
I wanted to cry,
And, I wanted to yell,
But I couldn't move.
“Give me your money”
I couldn't speak,
But they yelled again
I silently answered,
“I don't have any”
They noticed my phone in my hand,
And took it,
And yelled
“Tell anyone and we'll kill you”
I stood there for what seemed like forever,
I ran to mom’s house,
And finally let it out.
I cried and cried and cried.
I knew this would affect me,
And I couldn't change what happened.

Where were you when I got attacked at gunpoint?
I was walking home in a safe neighborhood,
At 7pm.
I walked home alone all the time,
And this never happened before.
I could've died and you need to be aware
Of where you are right now
In this moment and
Where you will be.
I got attacked at gunpoint,
And I wish I stayed at the park longer.
