The Journey

Across the page splotches fill lines,
The march begins.
A soft and harmonious tune dances through my mind,
Sending shivers down my spine.
Picture a bird with wings creating a beat, A hurried motion.
It sets the tempo,
One, Two, Three...
Key Change

My pulse quickens, the climax approaches.
A frantic beat, a hummingbird flitting across the meadow.
Beads of sweat run along my brow,
The passion of the music consuming me.
Key Change

The miraculous bird panics, death confronting it,
Defenseless against danger.
I search for the notes, my breath increases to a pant.
Would the misery ever end?
A soft glow ahead illuminates the sky.
Key Change

Hope lights the way, new life ahead for the trivial creature.
Colors begin to pour into my thoughts as the journey turns,
New life sprouting.
Key Change

Melody, a symphony of sounds so pleasant it melts iron souls.
Drifting away, an evening lullaby,
Soothing the worst of heartaches.
The hummingbird's wings fade into the distance,
Eyes slowly creep shut.
Peace.

The author's comments:
Every time I pick up my intstrument, each piece of music is it's own journey. It goes through different moods and hits climaxes. My orchestra teacher noted that, now every time I play...I make a story out of the pieces. If I created my own, it would be like this poem.
