I remember we used to lay in the back of your truck for hours counting the clouds until they turned to shooting stars illuminating the sky and the first time you touched my hand the electric current that ran through my fingers up my spine and how we talked for hours on the phone and laughed till we cried and burned each other cd’s and said I love you and meant it and danced in the rain and tipped cows and rolled in the hay and picked our song and how you put your arm around me and held me close and how I found out
That I wasn’t enough
And I wanted to slap you and leave you and cry and die and how most of all
I wanted to plant my lips on yours
pushing what you said back into the dark abyss that it came from and
forget that it ever happened.
