Dear Future Daughter
Trust is a piece of paper.
You can give it out,
share it, pass it around.
But don't give it to everyone you meet,
not everyone deserves it.
Not everyone will take care of it.
There will be some who will accidentally write on it,
some who will rip it,
some who will crumple it,
others will fold it.
Some might tear parts off;
and some will even have the audacity to throw the whole scrap away.
But there will be some who try to mend it,
tape it, smooth out as many creases as possible.
But no matter how hard they try,
the paper will never be perfect.
So don't give your scrap to everyone you meet like I did.
Trust is a piece of paper.
