Cavatappi, Ditalini, Farfalle, Linguine, Rigatoni, Rotini, Tortellini, Ziti
Each seat filled with a grumbling stomach and an excited face
Moms, dads, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, children, and babies
Shiny plates and bowls ready to be covered in steamy food
No matter where or who is there we always have enough food for an army
Endless supplies of pasta, veggies, and bread
Each dinner resembling the last
Living in Tennessee doesn't change our ways
Somehow fried chicken and buttered biscuits doesn't make it on the plate
Bolognese and Marinara rather than greasy chicken and biscuits glazed in butter
Similar to Korea where the family eats all together but
Kimchi and Japchae doesn't cross our mind to be apart of our menu
Sit on chairs rather than pillows
Sip unsweetened tea rather than sweetened or green
Invite everyone you know because our house is yours
Chatting about childhood mistakes and lessons learned
Laughing through the night
Searching through boxes of photos hopeful to find a treasure
Comparing photos of relatives to the newest children
Sharing recipes from the past and present
Hoping I can perfectly recreate these dishes in the future
Learning new things about my family every time I sit down at the table
Stuffed to the brim with food
But here come dessert
Apple Pie, Banana bread, chocolate chip cookies, Strawberry cake, and brownies
It's a bakery
Why don’t we have our own family restaurant?
With all this food how do I not weigh 200 pounds?
Food babies form after each and every meal
We gather frequently
Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Birthdays, Football Games, and Sunday nights
Fascinating memories and delicious food
Mom spends countless amounts of time in the kitchen preparing flawless masterpieces
She's a perfectionist
Smiles and laughter fill the house with good vibes
Spreading traditions daily
I've hit the wall, let's call it a day
Now it's time for a nap
